Please follow these simple guidelines before treatment. They can make all the difference between a fair result and a great result by reducing some possible side effects associated with the injections. We realize this is not always possible; however, minimizing these risks is always desirable.
Schedule Botox® appointment at least 2-4 weeks before special events, i.e., wedding, vacation etc., etc. You do not want to attend a very special event with facial bruising that you could have avoided.
Avoid Anti-inflammatory / Blood Thinning medications for two (2) weeks before treatment, ideally. Medications and supplements such as Aspirin, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Vioxx, and other NSAIDS all thin the blood and can increase the risk of bruising/swelling after injections.
It is wise to avoid Alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours before treatment (alcohol may thin the blood, increasing the risk of bruising.
Remove all makeup and facial product with thorough skin cleansing before your appointment.
